Honestly, I don't really like Naga.. I guess it's because I compare her to Appa, and Appa was the bomb. Naga is also fairly limited... she isn't able to carry all of Team Avatar at one time! She's lovely, true, but pales in comparison with Appa.

Really? I actually really like Naga. I love that Korra can rely on her and that they're best friends. I loved that when Korra woke up from her nightmare in the voice in the night, she had Naga there to comfort her. That Naga is always there to comfort her (That also made me a little sad though because Mako and Bolin weren't there to comfort her). Naga is also adorable so that's a plus.
I think it's a bit unfair to dislike Naga just through a comparison to Appa. I think it's quite fitting that Naga is so different from Appa because Korra is so different from Aang. Naga is the right companion for her.

Naga is just adorable. AS MUCH AS I LOVED APPA... I think I'd want a polar bear dog as my animal companion/means of transportation (that or a dragon like Avatar Roku had).
I think Naga is less "comedic" as Appa could be, so therefore people tend to like Appa better than her. It was like with Appa and Momo, more people liked Momo more because he was so cute and funny (I liked Appa more but loved them both). It's not fair to judge Naga against Appa like that because they are two different animals.
ALSO! Interesting fact, Polar bear dog are quite feared and hunted in by Water Tribe members. Korra is actually the first person ever to tame one.
I JUST WANT TO SEE THE MOMENT NAGA AND KORRA FIRST MET. I WANT IT TO BE AS CUTE AND SAPPY AS I HOPE IT WOULD...
SO YEAH. I love Naga. She's adorable. And such a protective and loyal guardian to Korra who has helped rescue her. She seems intelligent and a great someone for Korra to have for comfort.
EDIT: ALSO HOW COULD ANYONE NOT LOVE NAGA. LOOK AT THAT FACE. AND THOSE EYES. YOU CANNOT SAY NO TO A FACE LIKE THAT ADFBDJBGFDSB PRECIOUS BBY GIRL WHO'S A GOOD GIRL AHDHSDFJDKMSDFGF
And even though I don't have a polar bear dog... being a dog owner myself... I know how wonderful it is to have a dog you love and feel you can have to comfort you and be loved by. Dog is man's (and woman's!) best friend... Am I being sappy? You bet. I cannot even begin to put into words how much I love my dog and all the wonderful dogs who have been in my life.

I know Avatarverse is not real universe but...
I mean, in real universe penguins live in the south pole and polar bears live in the north. But apparently both live in the south pole in Avatar world?
It has always bugged me slightly when people put polar bears and penguins together. They've never seen each other. And a lot of people don't realize that these two species live across the globe from one another and even though it's really really stupid it's always been one of the things that randomly annoys me a lot.
So now that I think of that it's going to kind of irk me. Haha.

More related though, I do really like her as the avatar's animal guide. She's fantastic. =)

I TOTALLY FEEL YOU ON THAT, LYSS. It's like in Avatar RPs... when people name their characters like, total Western names... IT IS STUPID I KNOW BUT IT BUGS ME SO MUCH BECAUSE AVATAR IS A TOTAL ASIAN FANTASY WORLD AND EVERYONE'S NAMES ARE ASIAN OR INUIT OR SOMETHING. LIKE FIRE NATION: CHINESE, LOVE "Z's", Zuko, Azula, Ozai, Azulon... Some exceptions, like Mai, Iroh, Roku (Roku is Japanese anyway) but very heavily Chinese-influenced, especially imperial China .... Earth Kingdom: Mix of Korean and Japanese mostly with some Chinese. Lots of Japanese/Korean names like Kyoshi, Song, Haru (although Bei Fong is very Chinese). Water Tribe... Inuit! Love the letter "K", Katara, Sokka, Korra, Pakku... Air Nomads... Obviously Tibetan Monk-inspired. Names are a mix, mostly of Tibetan, Korean, Japanese, and Hindi.
... IT JUST IS ONE OF THOSE STUPID THINGS I CARE A LOT ABOUT AND IT BOTHERS ME WHEN OTHER PEOPLE DON'T SEEM TO NOTICE BUT IT'S SOOOO STUPID I KNOW...
ALSO, ON TOPIC... YES. NAGA. ADORABLE. I dunno, maybe there are polar bear dogs in the North Pole? I have to check on that.
