"That prissy, beautiful, elegant rich girl." - Korra. Asami Sato, daughter of Hiroshi Sato. What do you think about her? Good, bad, awesome? Fabulous hair? Thoughts, theories, and opinions on Asami here!

Definitely fabulous hair. I found it really annoying that in the first couple of episodes that she was featured in Asami was basically "Mako's girlfriend" and she had like one line that required her to be "Mako's girlfriend". I'm really glad that in the latest episodes we've been getting more character development. Loved that she electrocuted her father (wow, that sounds sadistic!) I hope we get to see a lot more of Asami fighting because I've heard that she's supposed to be a pretty kickass fighter. Considering how most people in the Avatarverse right now seem to be at a bit of a loss without their bending, it'd be pretty awesome to see a non-bender (other than Amon and the equalists) fight well.

I dislike Asami. She started out being a pretty girl who drives cars, has a lot of money, and does no wrong. A few episodes later, she's exactly the same thing.
The only hint of development I've seen from her was in the newest episode where she states that she's happy that nothing in her new room at Air Temple Island reminds her of her father. At least from that we know she holds some sort of sadness or resentment towards her father. Though, that doesn't go too far because we really have no idea what relationship she had with her father in the first place (I think we only saw them together once). Other than that, she's still being paraded around for having nice things and knowing how to drive/fight. She feels like a badly written OC.
If we get into the finale and we have a scene like this:
Korra, Mako, Bolin: Oh man, we have a problem here. Asami: I have a solution. *insert expensive thing/money*
I will scream.

At the same time, she's a wealthy girl that's had everything at her disposal. It's all she knows, really. I see that they're trying to have her be more sensitive and humble, but I think it'll take time with Korra and the others before she starts becoming more than just the wealthy, combative daughter of Hiroshi Sato. Right now, I think she's a shallow character that we haven't really delved into yet.

I kind of love her for some reason... D: Mostly because I see her as having so much potential, and I just want her to FULFILL IT. Gah. I love the rich spoiled kid that proves everyone wrong. Nothing makes me happier than seeing that. And ... she's possibly well on her way to such things ... especially since I'm assuming she doesn't have much access to her father's money anymore (she pretty much relinquished that when she gave him the electric rejection).
There's also a part of me that wants her to take a Zuko-esque path... Like, she's good at first, then defects to the Equalists because she feels loyal to her father and guilty about betraying him ... then defects back to Team Avatar because her heart lies with Korra or something.
And I want her to have a HUGE brodown with Korra. Over Mako. I want them to punch it out, air the dirty laundry, and then become sistahs. Forever. MAYBE THAT'S WHAT MAKES HER LEAVE TEAM AVATAR INITIALLY?! .... And then she sulks for a while on the side of the Equalists, and sees all the horrors of Amon, and then realizes that she should have hugged it out with Korra ... and so she returns.
This is now my headcanon. I accept it.

This is now my headcanon. I accept it. That. Right there. That is why I hate her. Why does every role she's put in have to revolve around Mako? I'm with Dibs when she said she hated the first however many episodes and all Asami was was "Mako's girlfriend." I think Asami has so much potential to be MORE than just the rich girl with rich things. I get that she offers solutions and I get that naga simply can't carry 4 people like Appa did but in the last episode, she brought a car around and I was like... well, what about Naga? I'm torn with liking her and disliking her because she's STILL "Mako's Girlfriend" except she HAS grown to "Mako's Girlfriend with Toys". I think she definitely has the potential to expand into "Asami, who happens to be dating Mako, fighting for what's right despite losing her mother to a bender and losing her father to the equalists." I really want them to delve into now losing BOTH of her parents to BOTH sides. If anyone has a reason to hate the world it's Asami.

^ I think this makes me dislike her character even more. The fact that ever since she was introduced, she's had this amazing potential to be a great character irks me. She's been "potentially interesting" for the past five or six episodes...where does she actually become interesting?

That. Right there. That is why I hate her. Why does every role she's put in have to revolve around Mako? Oh oh oh. I totally understand. Don't get me wrong. I hate it too. She needs to stop being Mako-girl and rich-girl IMMEDIATELY. I was just suggesting a way that this could possibly start happening. Because ... I mean, as much as I hate it, it seems like they're setting us up for a "let's fight over Mako" scenario, or at the very least, an "I'm jealous because we both like Mako" scenario. ... And honestly, I really wish that WASN'T happening ... like, I wish Asami could have been introduced as someone other than "that hot girl that hit Mako with her scooter and then became his random girlfriend." If only because I believe in her potential as a character so much. But yeah. I guess she's gonna turn out either interesting or crappy. We'll see.
