Any one see any good shows lately? I was inspired to make this thread because I just scored tickets to see Coheed and Cambria in March and I'm fucking stoked.

Yellowcard are one of those bands I've heard of my entire life but never checked out. Any suggestions?

they have been around a long time, and I will never stop loving them.
OKAY I actually spent forever like trying to narrow down my favorites per album but I couldn't. It also depends on your personal music taste because they have a variety of songs and sounds to choose from, and I adore them all, but I didn't want to spend forever telling you about every song on every album and how they're all so perfect soooooo I asked my brother to give me the top five essential yellowcard songs for a new listener and he said this:
1. Ocean Avenue not debatable it is THE Yellowcard song even people who don't know the band who listened to radio in the early 2000s will know that song 2. Hang You Up their best softer song by far although Sing For Me is amazing too, as is How I Go 3. Five Becomes Four Because LP is a badass drummer 4. Sleep in the Snow From their best album ever 5. Light Up the Sky I don't know why just do it
Bonus: How I Go Not one of their most famous nor their typical sound, but the addition of the orchestra makes it one of my favorites ever. Very beautiful and moving.
If you want some stuff that's a little different in sound and gives more variety I highly recommend City of Devils, Paper Walls, Two Weeks from Twenty, Waiting Game, Holly Wood Died, and also Believe just because. in that order. I think.
I'm trying my best T-T
EDIT: My brother says to add Gifts and Curses. I would definitely give that one a listen as well if you have time. Possibly even before the other's that aren't the top 5.

Hm, I'll give those a listen then, thanks.
And for shits and giggles, I'm going to post my full list of concerts. Opening acts are in brackets.
November 5th, 2006 - Guns N' Roses [Sabastian Bach, Papa Roach]
March 2009 - Avenged Sevenfold [Burn Halo, Papa Roach, Buckcherry] October 30th, 2009 - Pearl Jam [Bad Religion]
January 31st, 2010 - Between the Buried and Me [Scale the Summit, Devin Townsend Project, Cynic] March 2010 - Muse [Silversun Pickups] April 2010 - Alice in Chains [Living Things] April 2010 - Between the Buried and Me [Seas of Wake, Baroness] November 2010 - Trans-Siberian Orchestra
May 10th, 2011 - Deftones [Funeral Party, Dillinger Escape Plan] September 26th, 2011 - Foo Fighters [Mariachi El Bronx, Rise Against]
And Coheed with Russian Circles and Between the Buried and Me on March 11th, 2013.
I'm lucky enough to like about 90% of the bands I've seen as openers (save for Papa Roach, Living Things, and Buckcherry] or at least get into their set while they're playing, so it feels like I've seen more shows than I technically have.

Man it's been a while since I've been here already. Saw this was the most recent thread in the music section so I decided to give an update on my shows:
I managed to cram in four shows in March, and dear lord it was intense.
The first was In Flames on the 6th, and probably my favorite. While I'm not the biggest fan anymore, they opened me up to the world of metal, so finally seeing them was a great experience. The energy of the crowd was nuts and by the end of it I could barely stand up.
After that, like I said, I saw Coheed and Cambria on the 11th. I was a little put off the whole night because I'd forgotten my earplugs, so I spent equal time worrying about my ears as I did watching the bands. The combo of BTBAM and Coheed was really weird, and you could tell the crowd was at odds with each other because of the differing fan bases, but I loved getting to see two of my favorite bands (that, and Russian Circles was amazing live - I wasn't sold on their studio stuff, but it's a whole other experience in person). Coheed was really on form too, having Josh back on drums and a new bassist without the personal troubles of the last one did them a huge favor and they seemed to really enjoy just playing the fuck out of their songs.
The night after that, I saw Deftones with Periphery opening, another line up of two of my absolute favorite bands. Periphery was note-perfect live, which is really impressing considering the technicality of their music, but I was a little disappointed they only got to play 8 songs. Deftones was just as on form as the last time I saw them, too - and Chino was a little drunk on top of it, so he was having a ton of fun bullshitting with people in the crowd between songs and it made things feel a lot more personal than when I saw them in Philly. The setlist was fairly similar to the last time I saw them, though, but they switched up some of the stuff they played from Around the Fur, plus the Koi no Yokan songs are ace live (especially Rosemary - FUCK.). And I also went with my girlfriend again, so they're quickly becoming 'our' band. :3
Finally, on impulse, I decided to see Circa Survive on the 20th at the same venue as Deftones. I'm not really a huge Circa fan, but I enjoy them, and I wound up leaving a bigger fan than I had been before hand. That, and their openers were great - Now, Now and Minus the Bear, two bands I'd never listened to before, and left with albums by. The mood for those two bands was so laid back, it was a good decompression from a week of heavy rock/metal shows (or maybe that was just all the pot smoke speaking).
EDIT: And I'm about 95% sure I'm going to see Filter in June. Just depends on if it's not sold out next payday (which is unlikely).
