... So what the hell are they going to do for the next season?
They didn't even give us a tease, a title, or anything. And if they bring back Amon after that incredible sendoff, I will literally consider dropping the show altogether.
They need more character focus. That's all I can think of right now.

I honestly don't know what they'll do for a second season. Despite how hurriedly it was done, most of the loose ends were tied up; namely Korra magically got her bending back, she can now restore others' bending, and Amon got the [censored] blown out of him in the middle of an ocean.
But seriously, that was (presumably) an on-screen death... I mean it is technically about as open-ended as Zhao's death was, but like Zhao I seriously doubt we'll be hearing from Amon again.
We didn't get teased with a new villian, or a new problem, or really anything. I remember seeing somewhere that M&B said that if they did multiple Korra seasons they would have unrelated story arcs, but this ending makes me wonder if they're even going through with a second season.

Throughout the episodes, I started taking my old speculations and started connecting them to the new facts that were discovered.
At first, I thought Amon had done something to "seal" the bending for good, where if he were defeated, then the seal would be removed. Due to the fact that bending was "taken away" by bloodbending, there came a thought that their the process can be reversed somehow, or it's just simply a memory wipe from the brain. Taking the latter's perspective, I figured that Books 2-4 will consist of the corresponding elements after the air cycle and start completely anew.
Not even halfway through the series, I thought that each book would represent a new villain and motivation to the story rather than completely focusing on the revolution throughout the entire span of the show, which now seems feasible, since as you mentioned, Amon SHOULD be long gone. Done. Kaput. Finished. As mentioned in the 111/112 thread, sure, Amon is VERY superior in terms of power, but he is not invulnerable or indestructible, and he has no spiritual powers, especially that of the Avatar.
Perhaps it'll be a couple of months before a teaser is brought out upon us, but those are my two cents at the moment.
