I've got a play-by-post itch I need to scratch and a couple of your members directed me here...I want to do a fantasy RP where everyone randomly gets dumped into the same alternate universe and they have to claw their way back out. Allows you to use literally any character from any universe (avatar characters if you want but the beauty of it is they could just as easily not be) and I've run these pretty successfully in the past.
Anyone interested?

I had an idea kinda like that....only it was just using OC's. And had a bit more complexity to it than just randomly getting summoned to a universe. This is how it kinda goes:
My original thought on the OC one was that all these various "heroes" and "villains" get summoned into a somewhat modern society to save or destroy the world. Perhaps while just trying to get back to where they were.
When I made the RP on another other site, I made my own characters the leaders of the good side and the bad side, my angels Reficul and Jiova. And since angels have awesome powers they very well might be able to yank people out of their timeline/universe (they do it on Supernatural!). But that's completely fine if people don't want my characters to be the leaders...but it just helps me think of a plot better when I know what my characters would do. Would make things easy, seeing as all Reficul wants is to war against his brother, Jiova, and can promise riches and powers and whatnot for people to help him...
Anyways, I was planning on making this RP, but if you had a similar idea, then perhaps we could combine them since they are similar.

lol I'm friends with gospar/whatever name kae uses on here.  I was directed directly here. My idea was to have it be a quest. Each character pulled into this random 'world' has a task they must complete here. These tasks are somehow pushed toward saving the world they've been summoned to, and in the process, each learns something about themselves. This allows everyone to have a little bit of control over where the plot goes. Your villain sounds absolutely amazing though and I'd love to conspire everyones' downfall  |

Okay so I'd love to get this RP started....
So to try and combine our ideas, this is what I think could happen....
All these characters get pulled into this world, intended to help in the fight. In order to get back, they also have to complete a "task", after which they can go back home when they choose. But finding out what it is could also be a challenge.
And we could use any sort of characters I guess...old ones, new ones, or ones not ours. Though I'll probably do all my own old characters or my own story characters instead of making new ones since that's what I kinda envisioned for this RP...

I would love to join in on something like this.
I'm gonna tip my hand to my nerdiness here, but the premise sounds a lot like Runescape's origin lore. Basically a god by the name of Guthix found an empty, unused plane just floating around in space. He claimed it for himself and created the template for a world, but as a god dedicated to balance he was against creating life himself. He instead visited dozens of other universes and gathered plant and animal species to inhabit his world. He never abducted anything sentient but instead only took volunteers, and he would teleport those who chose to join him to his own world. Most of the intelligent species he collected were technologically between their medieval and industrial revolution periods, which sets the time frame for the game's technology--mostly swords and bows, with a few rudimentary firearms and steampunk machines scattered throughout. There are species typical to most MMOs like humans, orcs, and dwarves, but also some more original ones like mahjarrat and aviansies. Naturally not everyone gets along and wars soon break out between many of the intelligent species, but that's the natural order of things. Guthix only ever intervened when the balance of the world was disturbed (such as during a world war known as the God Wars, and during one of the major quest lines in-game when a member of one species tries to artificially attain godhood).
The tl;dr is that Runescape's main god gathered a bunch of different species from similar technological time periods to found his own world, but not everyone gets along. Something similar to that but with a wider time frame might make for a good RP. Just a suggestion I thought I'd throw out there.
