Amon threatens to attack the pro-bending arena if the Council does not cancel the championship. Although the Council initially votes to give in to Amon, Chief Lin Beifong convinces Tarrlok otherwise when she offers to take responsibility for the safety of the stadium. Korra learns that Tenzin and Lin had dated prior to Tenzin's marriage and still have unresolved issues between them, but they agree to cooperate to protect the stadium. During the finals, the Wolfbats (who had bribed the referees) defeat the Fire Ferrets using foul play. When the match is over, the Equalists neutralize Chief Beifong's metalbenders using chi-blocking electric gloves. Amon permanently strips the Wolfbats of their bending abilities and destroys the stadium before escaping.
