The new baby really got me going too. So adorable. <3
And I looked in this thread prior to seeing the episode and noticed the Iroh spoiler, but... That is NOT what I was expecting. Must see again. Actually, must see all of them before the FINALE!

 Can we just talk about the fact that Lin Bei Fong is the best thing to happen? Ever? Not gonna lie, I teared up when Amon took her bending away. Now, more than ever, I hope that the whole spiritbending thing is just advanced chiblocking because I want Lin to get her bending back and kick some more ass (Though I have no doubt that Lin is perfectly capable of kicking ass despite having no bending to aid her anymore). But yeah, after this episode she's definitely my favourite. She is just so fantastic. And sacrificing herself like that to protect Tenzin and his family. I love her. Also, the airbender kids saving Lin? Yeah. I totally didn't see that coming but they were so fantastic and amazing. It is good to see airbending happening. Also, Tenzin airbending? Yeah, pretty epic. Throughout the whole episode I was basically like "NO NOT TENZIN DON'T TOUCH TENZIN OMFG THE EQUALISTS ARE GOING TO GET TENZIN AIGFAIFHAIOHADFGFA". There were a lot of close calls. I was glad to see Asami fight as well, we finally get to see her kick some equalist butt. And I liked the fact that she confronted Mako about the whole Korra thing buuut I still feel like her whole identity is shaped around Mako. Even when she was fighting the equalists, her rage seemed to be entirely fueled by the fact that she was pissed at Mako. I feel like I say this after every single episode but ugh. Makorra. I think I actually facepalmed at the beginning of the episode when they showed Mako lovingly staring at Korra while she was asleep. Seriously, my dislike for Mako and Makorra grows stronger and stronger every week. Although this week, Mako re-directing lightening made me hate him a little bit less. And General Iroh. I don't even know what to say about General Iroh. I knew that the character that Dante Basco was voicing was supposed to show up soon and when Tenzin talked about sending out a wire to the general of the united forces, I KNEW that had to be him. But with all the intensity of the episode, I had completely forgetting, and then Lin was getting her bending taken away and I was just tearbending. And then suddenly there's this dude and he's speaking in Dante Basco's voice... and his name is general Iroh. I didn't even know what to think. I'm pretty sure I gasped out loud when they called him general Iroh. So like... I'm pretty scared about the finale because I think I might die after it. |

Thoughts I thought this episode: - Mike and Bryan obviously think that I have health insurance and afford heart medicine or something. That episode jerked my emotions around like crazy.
- Asami's a better fighter than I think she let on. She's got some Ty Lee acrobatic skills, but she's got a great physical presence when she fights.
- Mako's incredibly selfish and way out of touch with his feelings, but he's a darn good firebender.
- I have been waiting all season long to see seriously breathtaking adult airbending. Tenzin delivered, went back the pizza truck, and brought about 32,432,843,743,284 more servings.
- Where were Bolin and Korra?
- Lin showed serious character growth this episode and stole my heaaaaaaaaaart. Her bending is ridiculous. Her courage is unshakable.
- Those airbending kids were just phenomenal. Jinora's been replaced by Lin as my favorite character, but she's a solid second place.
- IROH IROH IROH IROH IROH IROH IROH HONOR IROH IROH DANTE BASCO IROH IROH IROH IROH.

What are the odds I can sig that gif in a few days? If it weren't for major spoilers, I'd do it right now; Zubat be damned, Lin deserves some respect. After this episode, she has become my favorite character in LoK, and one of my top picks for all of Avatar. The way Lin just crumpled after Amon took her bending... I think that's the closest thing to a death Nick would allow. EDIT: And on a somewhat related note, now that her bending is gone... isn't she trapped in that armor of hers? How's she gonna move until it comes off? |

New favorite character already decided- General Iroh the Second. Just hearing Dante's voice again sent chills up my spine! So pumped to see how he's going to work his way into the story

I'm sure Lin has now gathered a MASSIVE following. Which I am proud to admit I am a part of. I loved her from the beginning, and now I've fallen so much deeper. MY ADMIRATION FOR HER IS AN ABYSS; IT WILL NEVER END.
Dante. 'Nuff said. General Iroh? Perfection.
This episode gave me so many feels and emotions, I could barely stand it. My chest was heaving, I had to sit up, I gasped, I cheered - it was pretty ridiculous. I'm quite certain the finale will leave me on the brink of death.
TENZIN AND HIS CHILDREN AIRBENDING! IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL TO SEE! AND THE BAAABBBYYY!! SQUEE~!
Just... everything. I loved everything. Except for the Makorra bits. Fuck that. At least we got a taste of Asami fighting. That was nice.

All this. I just watched and, be still my heart. The episode started off blah (I agree with Panda about Makorra) and got more and more freaking awesome as the episode went on. I will talk about this episode by character because I love characters. Korra: I loved that she used waterbending for once but... that one move is about all she did. Other than be confused at the drama of the love triangle she's a part of. Bolin: A couple funny one liners again and brief seconds of bending but... please come back to being an important part of the story. I like him to much to watch him fall back into being a minor character. =c Even though it's happening, was he in ANY of the finale preview? Mako: Lightning bending was cool but I still detest him. He is seriously the most immature and self-centered character of the entire Avatarverse. "Bolin told you, didn't he?" I was cheering Asami on when she confronted him and the way she handled it. People give her a lot of crap because her identity depends on Mako but I think she handled everything the right way AND kicked some butt. I actually have a lot to say about her but I'll probably post that in her character thread so this doesn't get TOO long. Overall I applauded her a lot in this character. Tenzin: IT'S ABOUT TIME HE SHINED LIKE THAT OMG. I was freaking out at his amazing bending in this episode. Holy crap. He does it all like it's nothing, too. he also had some really endearing daddy moments and just all around was fantastic this episode. He is Aang's son. =) Lin: While she's definitely not my FAVORITE character, no one can deny that her scenes may have been the best this episode as far as pulling on the fan heartstrings. Actually even more than when she lost her bending, the scene where she went after the airships was my favorite. The way she was protecting the last airbenders was just beautiful and so admirable, and it also gave me flashbacks to Toph on the airships of the finale of the last series. Just beautiful. Air babies: Hahahahahaha I love them so much, especially Jinora. I really wanted her to stick around though so I can't decide how I feel. I was happy because I WANTED Tenzin to protect them, I kept saying how upset I'd be if anything happened to them, but I really hope they can still find their way back into the show. Amon: He's still my favorite even though he did nothing this episode. I did enjoy his sexy voice in his short scenes. Hah. Lieutenant: Always fails. Owned by a 10 year old girl and a polar bear dog in the same episode. Iroh: BRYKE YOU KILL ME I LOVE YOU. OMG. OMFG. I CAN'T EVEN. hopefully the character named after Iroh will be more fitting of the name than the character named after Iroh's voice actor =\ I think everybody is already in love with him though. I'm still freaking out. EDIT: I forgot one thing. This scene.Really got me. |
