So Lyssa and I were talking about how, in the end, Amon may actually be defeated. Basically, we were thinking that since Korra is slowly establishing connections with her spiritual side and connecting with Aang, he'll probably be more in tune with her in the future. Since Aang is Aang, he probably wouldn't want Korra to kill Amon, especially since the death of Amon would actually sort of make him a martyr to the equalists and just the general population of republic city. But you also can't take his bending away because Amon can't bend. So how exactly would Korra defeat Amon?

Well if AtlA's finale is to be believed, the whole spirit-bending thing is a two way street and could possibly rebound on the user (see: when Aang tries to take Ozai's bending, Ozai almost overpowers him). If Korra could learn this ability, she could use it against Amon and potentially sever whatever spiritual connection he has.
