"That firebender took my family from me. Then, he took my face. I've been forced to hide behind a mask ever since."Mysterious leader of the Equalists, Amon. The revelation is upon us, my brothers and sisters. OR IS IT? Talk about the masked man!

Gentlemen, behold! The truth! But seriously, I love Amon as a villain. Stoic, implacable, willing to do anything to further his goal. Everything a good villain should be.

I'm in agreement with Ben. I think he's definitely a better villain than Ozai and I quite liked Ozai as a villain too.
Amon is pretty creepy as well, which I love. He also seems to be a great fighter and he moves like an airbender, which is pretty interesting. I'm really excited to learn more about the mysterious Amon.

Can I just say that I think Amon is kind of sexy? That might be why I like him so much better than Ozai who was just kind of scary. Not only that but Ozai's angle was just "World domination! power! genocide!". Amon's reason is actually understandable. Especially if you believe his story about what happened to him/his family. Now I'm still not sure I do, but going off the belief that it is true just makes him as a villain more complex. He is like Zuko in more ways than just the disfigurement by a firebender but also in that he's more like an antihero than a full on bad guy. After seeing the bender gangs harassing people and the things that some characters like Tarrlok have done you almost want to root for Amon. I mean think about how Ozai himself was using his bending to destroy the world and how was he stopped? Aang took away his bending. I can see where people would believe that "equality" is a good thing.
On top of that, has Amon ever killed anyone? Not that we're aware. He just takes their bending and while yes, that's crippling to benders, his thought process is actually not malevolent. To him and the equalists, it's the right thing.
I've seen a lot of people compare him to Hitler historically but I don't think that's fair. Hitler just decided that there was a master race and everyone else can die (yeah I'm simplifying it a lot whatever) Amon is actually seen as a Savior by many no benders because THEY are the ones who were oppressed, seen as inferior, and killed at the hands of benders. It's way more complex than Amon is just a bad guy, and it cannot be compared to any real life person because we don't have anything like bending. In a way it's like saying "50% of people are born without arms, I don't have arms but I was blessed with a chainsaw I can use with my feet and I decided to use it to chop off people's arms because they keep slapping us in the face."
Comical maybe but you kind of get the picture. It's wrong to take something that's a part of someone but let's be honest, Aang did it for the good of the world so it's not ALWAYS wrong and it's not pure evil.
So all of that was just to say Amon's mystery, voice, and he fact that he is a sympathetic character with real motives and complexity makes him really attractive to me. He's the phantom of the opera but better, more badass, and without the creepy pedo stalker part. I also like his mask.
Also from the very first episode, when he spoke I was like "woah, his voice is so sexy."

A few more interesting things about Amon from Avatar Wiki: - Amon states that benders have started every war in every era. That would be an error considering the war between the villages of Oma and Shu which subsequently led to, and thus it took place before, the origin of earthbending. - Amon is the name of the second deadliest pressure point in the human body. Located on the back of the neck, near the base of the brain stem, a precise strike can be fatal. - Although he plans on taking away bending from every single bender, Amon has only taken the bending away from those who misused their bending abilities, namely members of the Triple Threat Triad, a group of criminals who abused their bending on non-benders, and the White Falls Wolfbats, who cheated their way through the Pro-bending Tournament. Also take a look at this picture. And ignore the caption, it's the only one I could find of this scene. At first I thought he was lying about his story and he might be one of the other characters in the show but he looks like he actually could have a burned face or something. Also, his hands are a paler color so he's not Tarrlok, and his eyes are different from anyone's we've seen. The most similar eyes are Yakone's. But Yakone's have smaller irises or something... Plus I actually think Yakone more closely resembles Tarrlok and would be way too old to be Amon at this point. I mean, Amon's hands don't look like old people hands. So I'm kind of done with my conspiracy theories about Amon being anyone except for, well, Amon. I am still not sure whether or not he is related to anyone though. Anyways, I'm just really intrigued by his character so I am analyzing everything.

Well, I'm pretty sure I've figured out who's behind the mask. But in all seriousness, I doubt that Amon is a character we've already been introduced to. I like him a lot as a villain so far, I have a soft spot for extremist crusaders

So I know I said I found Amon sexy before and he is an amazing villain but after seeing that last scene with him in the latest episode: ^ That He is officially my favorite villain ever, my favorite Korra character, and pretty much his "I am a solution," line was better to me than any of Azula's amazing lines ever ("do the tides command this ship?" and "you were never even a player" etc). And I freaking ADORED Azula. But Amon. There are no words.

Here is a text I received from a friend after the episode this morning:
I am now convinced. Amon is either a robot from bending hell... or Batman.
WHATEVER OR WHOEVER HE IS, HE JUST STOLE ME AWAY.

I got a text explaining how Amon must not be human. Of course, at the time I received it, I hadn't seen the latest episode ... So I deleted it before I read it properly ... D: There is so much mystery, complexity and intrigue pertaining to Amon. I want to understand more. I want to know his plight and the roots of his abilities. Also, this.

EPIC SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE TURN BACK NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT. Amon is forever sealed in the hall of fame in my heart. I don't know how anyone in LOK can ever beat him out as my favorite character in the series. The only person I like more than him as of right now is Aang. Me:
